Did you know that colour has the ability to excite, soothe, inspire, heal and can also agitate. This is particularly true for children, who can be extra sensitive to colour’s impact.

Watch for my blog over the next couple of weeks as I tell you how children react to each colour.

RED:

Some research suggests that too much exposure to red encourages an inability to focus and aggressive behaviour.

YELLOW:

Studies also pair this cheery and bright colour with motivation, while softer yellows can assist in concentration, and brighter yellows can increase memory.

 PURPLE:

This deep and emotive colour is great for inspiring sensitivity and compassion in children.

GREEN:

Scientist have also found that green may improve a child’s reading speed and comprehension.  683271_6221-w245-h222-b0-p0--contemporary-kids

ORANGE

This friendly, youthful and warm colour is actually great for children as it’s said to encourage confidence, independence and extroversion.

BLUE

Children who experience behavioural problems may appreciate the soothing effects of a blue room.

PINK

also has a calming feel that can translate to both sexes.  A colour that a child can grow out of quickly so try pairing pink accessories and textiles with a neutral background.

COOL COLOURS

lighter cool colours can have a calming effect on children.

WARM COLOURS

inspire happiness, cosiness and comfort in most people.
